Iβm so sorry for the truly awful way that you were treated this week! I hope you get some spectacularly satisfying and wonderful interactions soon to balance the scales a little bit.
Thank you for the recommendations. May I add to the list, for kids who are really into magical schools, The Marvellers, Amari and the Night Brothers, and Witchlings? Theyβre all ongoing middle-grade series with rich worldbuilding by PoC authors whose characters have real depth. (Iβm certain these were all on your radar already, I just try to signal-boost them whenever anyone mentions alternatives to Harry Potter.)
I'm sorry for the list, and that it's non-exhaustive!
I just found out there's a "peaceful protest rally" planned for the upcoming Pride Loteria at my library, so I just ordered a trio of shirts from your shop (they probably won't arrive in time to wear to the event, but that's ok -- it will be good to keep Pride going all year long!). Thank you for designing such awesome shirts!
Fascinating that all the weirdo experiences you had were with menβ¦π€. Because of course they were. π
Love the recs, my kids are into some of those too. My oldest (12) has been getting into more horror type stuff lately and was eyeing the Freddieβs graphic novels the other day. Iβm guessing that will be requested on our next visit.
I overheard a woman in my public library berating our entire town to the librarian at the circ desk because she couldn't find anyone to drive her 45 minutes to retrieve the CORPSE OF HER DOG from the vet. This is while he (the librarian) was trying to help this woman find a taxi or Uber.

Yes! Claribel Ortega and I are longtime mutuals! (She's the author Witchlings!)
I just discovered her Tiktok after Don Martin mentioned itβsheβs a delight! Which isnβt surprising because her books are, too.
Love someone who cares about libraries as much as I do. Full supporter! Thanks for the shout out!
Thank you for the app tip!
βNot all men, yet somehow always a man.β Sorry you had to deal with this but you did make me laugh out loud.

Just so you know, the links at the bottom arenβt working (for me, anyway). The upper one worked though. Those shirts may be irresistibleβ¦
Thank you! I cannot figure out what on earth is going on with that, but I've replaced the links and they seem to be working now.
Glorious
